Senior Home Safety Assessments

It is all about Peace of Mind… We provide Senior Home Safety Assessments for our populations of older people that want to stay in their homes as long as possible.

Seniors are less mobile as they age. House maintenance gets done by others or not at all. Combine this with the fact that many seniors have lived in their homes more than 20+ years. These homes have the safety standards of 20+ years ago and do not meet current modern standards.

This has led to many different types of safety hazards. The leading hazard is falling, accounting for 25% of all senior hospital admissions and 40% of all nursing home admissions. ER and Primary care doctors agree that a Senior Home Safety Assessment is very important to the health of their patients. Nearly 90% of older adults want to age-in-place. However; 85% of Seniors have done nothing to prepare their homes for aging.

Distance impacts safety conditions too! Family members may not live close by or have the knowledge to check the homes for safety. Unsafe conditions lead to accidents and injuries that can impact the health of the senior, short and long term.

Most trades will come inspect one specific area, but have a vested interest in finding items that they can fix leading to unnecessary and sometimes expensive repairs. Prior repairs may not have been made properly and are now causing unsafe conditions.

Clutter increases the longer a person stays in a home, causing unsafe emergency exit points.

Seniors Need to Live in a Home That Is Safe for Them.

We provide quality Senior Home Safety Assessments. Our home safety assessments cover the interior, exterior, bathrooms, bedroom, kitchen, and main living area as well as the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. We inspect items that impact safety and security.

Family members want to know their parents live in a safe home. They need an unbiased, qualified person that will focus on identifying unsafe conditions and providing unbiased recommendations to address the safety issues. Security of the exterior doors and windows alone do not provide adequate security from intruders.

Why is a Home Safety Assessment Needed?

Senior Home Safety Assessments are designed to identify the risks around trips and falls, and building security concerns. You will then receive great information and action plans so you can choose which items to repair immediately and which can be deferred so that you can stay safely at home. As often the case, seniors have lived in their home for many years – and simply do not notice the safety issues anymore. We know what to look for, and how to educate families.

Our Senior Home Safety Assessors provide a comprehensive affordable Stay at Home Safety Assessment by a trusted trained professional safety inspector.

Here is how it works:

  • The client or responsible person contacts us to schedule a 2 hour Senior Home Safety Assessment. An agreed-upon time and date is determined. The owner or responsible person should be in attendance during the assessment.
  • An email is sent to the responsible person with an agreement to be signed. The responsible person signs the electronic agreement. There will also be a link to pay for the assessment by credit card.
  • A confirmation email will be sent the day prior to the assessment. The confirmation email will have a picture of the Safety Assessor that will be coming along with the time of arrival.
  • The assessment will occur and then a consultation where the results of the assessment are reviewed and recommended next steps discussed.
